My PLKN Experience and Advices

It's that time of the year again, where people as in Malaysian Form 5 students worried about apart from SPM.
PLKN name list is out! Time to check whether you are the chosen one. HAHA

It had always been a hot issue among Form 5 students.

Back then when it was my turn I was one of the one complaining how unfair it was for me to be chosen.

I wrote this post just because my brother is one of them this year.

But 'luckily' he wasn't picked to serve in PLKN.

The question is, is being choose to go for PLKN really UNLUCKY ?

I admit it, it's kind of troublesome to go for the 3 months service (counted short when compared to other countries) and its what parents and students said as wasting time

Concerns of going for PLKN:
- Can't further study ( even if appealed and being granted temporary excluded, you still have to go back and service don't you? [not very sure about it but that's what I know] )
- Can't work part time to earn more pocket money ( this was my case lol )
- Spending my holidays in camps (with the thought of fun-less training)
- Be apart with love ones ( family and friends)
- Missing all the fun of celebrating the festivals with family and friend
- For boys : you will get to feel winds on your head other words, bald or a.k.a botak

BUT

If you went for PLKN :
- you get to learn new things such as :
how to march properly (or in army way)
how to camp in the jungle ( including cooking and how to set up a tent with ponchos )
basic 'swim' ( life saving)
how to be a more noble person from classes given (moral wise)
To love your country more
disciplines
more independent
responsible
- you will also know more friends from different backgrounds
learn their culture
 - if you are being put in a camp for example you're from west Malaysia and you are allocated at East Malaysia, you get to visit and see new sights of the state.

Through my experience, I admit how you felt unfair and stuff about going into camp and others being in their comforts at home ( trust me I've been through it already). But I was 'brave' enough and took up the challenge and I went.

After camp even during camp, I never regret a minute that I've compromise and go.
I do miss home and everyone but it's like a training though the things you will face in life.
Don't worry, if you don't do anything reckless and just follow the rules and orders, you will be perfectly fine.

Up until today, my memories are still fresh, how I acted on the first day of camp and how awkward when I made friends with my buddies in camp and how I cried so hard when I leave.
These memories will be part of my life and it will never be forgotten. :')

Lastly, a word of advice,
It's a chance of a lifetime I mean hey not everyone can go even if they wanted right? since you're 'lucky' enough to be chosen, just go!

When life put you in though situations, don't say why me, just say TRY ME! remember? :)

So just step out of your comfort zone and go for it! Believe in yourself!
God doesn't give us challenges we can't handle.

Read about my experience and more in detail here :

In case any of those who are going and wanted to ask more about PLKN or even about the things you should prepare before you go, just leave a comment, I will reply with my experience but I do not guarantee that they are 100% correct but I will do my best! ( Every camp may differ in some aspect).

Till then,
Thanks for reading! :)
